Yasmin
Veterinary Technician
Yasmin began her career in veterinary medicine in 2018 after she received her degree in Animal Business management from New England Institute of Technology. Once her career started, she quickly realized that she was more interested in the medical aspect of the field, and she has been a veterinary technician/surgical technician since then.
When she is not working, Yasmin loves to travel to warm weather destinations, spend time at the beach, and spoil her two dogs Ela and Lyla and two cats Bella and Blu.
Jacqueline
Customer Service Representative
Jaky has always been passionate about animals but did not officially join the field until 2016, when she entered the doggy daycare world. Jaky worked as a manager of a daycare facility until she began working at Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center in 2023 as a Client Service Representative. She is PACCC certified and enjoys learning as much about animal care as possible. Her favorite dog breed is the Bernese Mountain Dog, and she hopes to own one someday. While not at work, Jaky enjoys spending time with her Chihuahua, Hershey, and Maltese mix, Enzo. Her goal is to expand her knowledge in the veterinary field and eventually become a certified veterinary technician.
Ariana
Ariana is originally from Los Angeles, California. She received her BS in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis in 2016 and started her career working in comparative veterinary ophthalmology research where she was able to work with a wide variety of species. She transitioned into working as a veterinary technician in 2019 and loves working with animals and their families. She became Fear Free Certified in 2020 and advocates for the most positive experiences for patients when at the clinic. She relocated to New England in 2022 to attend Tufts University and graduated with her Master’s degree in Infectious Disease and Global Health in 2023. Ariana enjoys all things veterinary medicine and has been accepted into the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University for the fall of 2024.
Hannah
Technician Assistant
Hannah is currently a student at New England Institute of Technology, studying Veterinary Technology. Ever since she was little she loved animals and started horse back riding in 2005. Hannah has grown up with both dogs and cats in the home and just recently adopted a cat named Sully.
In her free time, you can find Hannah at the barn with the horses, hanging out with her corgi Jax, or with friends and family.
Maya
Veterinary Technician
Maya is excited to join Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center as a technician assistant. After working as a kennel attendant at a boarding facility, she looks forward to extending her experience and getting professional, hands-on practice in veterinary medicine. Maya loves learning about the importance of animal care and the relationships built between a pet and their owner. Maya is a born-and-raised Rhode Islander and currently lives in Narragansett. She is studying as an undergraduate student at Providence College, working towards a bachelor’s degree in biology. She hopes to attend vet school after she graduates!
When she is not working, Maya enjoys playing the piano and hanging out with friends, family, and her dog, Josie.
Emily
Technician Assistant
Emily is a current student at New England Institute of Technology in East Greenwich, RI. She is expected to graduated in 2024, with an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. She has a passion for all companion and exotic animals and is excited to continue her education and gain more hands-on experience while working at Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center.
In her free time, she loves to go hiking with her two dogs, spend time hanging out with friends, and play video games.
Ruby
Veterinary Technician
Ruby has had a love for animals her entire life but realized she wanted to pursue a career in animal care when she began volunteering at CT Beardsley Zoo in high school. Ruby graduated from The University of Rhode Island with a degree in wildlife conservation biology in 2020. Her career in the veterinary industry began in Washington where she worked as a kennel attendant. Since then, Ruby’s passion for veterinary medicine has grown, and she is now pursuing a degree to become a certified veterinary technician. While Ruby does not have any pets of her own, her roommate’s dog, Rocky, has become her own.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, video games, and going to concerts.
Lauren
Veterinary Technician
Lauren has been working with Hill and Harbour Veterinary Center for the past few years, and she is excited to be working currently as a Veterinary Technician Assistant. Lauren was able to work as a volunteer and an intern prior to her hire in May of 2022. Lauren is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Rhode Island and is working towards a bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences. Lauren has a passion for animals, and is excited to continue her education and gain more hands-on experiences while at Hill and Harbour.
When Lauren is not working, she enjoys time spent with family, friends, and her boyfriend Ryan. Lauren also enjoys going for walks with her dog Pepper, kayaking, and going on road trips. Lauren also has two cats named Peter and Petunia who she enjoys being with as well.
Nicole
Veterinary Technician
Nicole was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island. She grew up loving animals and always knew she wanted to have a career in helping them. Nicole went to the Community College of Rhode Island and got her associate’s degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in science. During that time she played soccer for the school and traveled to Greece and Italy. After that, Nicole knew she wanted to further her education, so she attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Technology. In addition, she has worked at a daycare and training facility for six years. She learned various animal behavior training techniques and found the importance of strengthening the relationship between humans and pets.
Nicole wants to further her career and experience in the veterinary field and is always eager to learn. In her free time she loves to attend spin class and hang out with her three dogs Walter, Hazel, and Fiona.
Christy
Veterinary Technician, Fear Free Certified
Christy joined the Hill and Harbour team in July of 2022. She graduated with an Associate’s in Veterinary Technology and passed her board exam in 2021 to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. Christy began her veterinary medicine career at a small hospital in Riverside, where she discovered a passion for assisting in surgical procedures. Christy also enjoys working with large animals and accompanied staff veterinarians on farm calls.
When not working, Christy spends most of her time with her pets Freya, Phoebe, and Frank and pursuing various passions such as cooking, writing, painting, hiking, and kayaking. Christy also enjoys spontaneous road trips with her boyfriend Chris.
Melissa
Lead Veterinary Technician
Melissa grew up in Jamestown, RI. She completed the Veterinary Technician Assistant program at CCRI and recently graduated from New England Institute of Technology with an Associate of Science of Veterinary Technology degree. She started her time at Hill and Harbour as an intern in March of 2021, where she was able to gain hands-on experience in a practice setting, and has progressed to a full-time veterinary technician.
In her free time she enjoys golfing with her boyfriend in the warmer weather, snowboarding in the winter, and bowling whenever she can. She also has a rabbit named Phoebe, with whom she loves to spend quality time.
Kelsey
Veterinary Technician
Kelsey is a Veterinary Technician who grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts. She has always had a passion for animals. She started her experience in veterinary medicine with an internship at Stoneham Animal Hospital in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
Spending her summers in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Kelsey worked at Nauset Pet Services as a Kennel Attendant, where she practiced her hands-on skills often. Kelsey came to Rhode Island to attend the University of Rhode Island and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and Technology. Kelsey plans to continue her career with us here at Hill and Harbour Veterinary Center.
Keith D. Schoen, BVMS
Owner/Veterinarian
Dr. Schoen was raised in Staten Island, NY. He majored in Animal Sciences at Cornell University and then attended the University of Glasgow’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Scotland where he graduated in 2007. Dr. Schoen furthered his training with a general internship in medicine and surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey, followed by a specialized surgical internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Schoen opened Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center in 2012. He enjoys all aspects of general practice, dentistry and orthopedic soft-tissue surgery.
While not working, Dr. Schoen enjoys hiking, biking, sailing, and spending time with his wife and three boys.
Andrea Packard, DVM
Associate Veterinarian, Fear Free Certified, “Cat Advocate”™
Dr. Packard received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island. She then graduated with her doctorate from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. While studying at Tufts, Dr. Packard devoted summers to working in the Oncology and Neurology departments of the Foster Hospital for Small Animals. Since graduation, Dr. Packard has worked in private practice in Rhode Island. She has continued to develop her professional skills by completing additional training in abdominal ultrasonography.
Since working at Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center, Dr. Packard has spearheaded the practice’s initiative to be formally certified as a Cat-Friendly Practice TM. She is one of our “Cat Advocates” and is well-versed in calm handling techniques for our feline patients.
Dr. Packard currently resides in East Greenwich with her husband William, their cats Wendall and Kitten, and their ill-behaved canine Butters.
Hagay Kimchi, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Kimchi was born and raised in Haifa, Israel. In 2012, he moved to Romania to study at the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca. In addition to studying, Dr. Kimchi had the opportunity to be part of the student exchange program ERASMUS and complete a year at University of Cordoba in Spain, where he was able to improve his Spanish. After earning his veterinary degree, Dr. Kimchi returned to Haifa to practice veterinary medicine with a focus on exotic animals. His journey continued in 2020, when he moved to Rhode Island to work at a private practice, where he was able to further cultivate his special interest in exotic medicine. In addition, Dr. Kimchi enjoys all aspects of small animal general practice, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine.
Dr. Kimchi lives in Johnston RI, with his wife and two young boys. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the beautiful beaches and lakes of Rhode Island with his family, playing guitar, a good quality coffee, and running after his boys. Dr. Kimchi is excited to continue his professional journey at Hill and Harbour Veterinary Center and meet the members of the community.
Adriane Schoen, CVPM, CVBL
Practice Manager
Adriane has been the Practice Manager of Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center since it opened in 2013. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice management, with a particular focus on finance, technology and innovation. A graduate of Cornell University, Adriane began her career planning civic events for the city of Glasgow, Scotland. After moving back to the United States, she continued to organize events and worked in development for several years at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC). Adriane became a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) in 2021, and further qualified as a Certified Veterinary Business Leader (CVBL) in 2022.
While not working, Adriane enjoys spending time with her husband and three energetic boys. Her passions outside of work and family include horticulture and sustainability, yoga and barre, cooking, hiking, and lifelong learning.
Katie
Customer Service Representative and Social Media Manager
Katie began her career in the veterinary industry in 2005 and joined the Hill & Harbour family in 2019 as a Customer Service Representative. Shortly after, she accepted the position of Front Office and Social Media Manager. Katie loves creating educational and engaging content as well as a sense of community within the practice and on social media. When she is not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, reading, crocheting and gardening. She also practices IET and Reiki and love bringing these modalities to others.
Reiko, VRCE
Customer Service Representative
Reiko was raised in Wolcott, CT. She received her degree from the University of Connecticut and began her career as a Sales Coordinator after moving to Rhode Island. She joined the Hill and Harbour family in 2021 as a Customer Service Representative and received her Veterinary Receptionist Certificate of Excellence (VRCE) in 2022. She loves getting to know your furry family members and helping you provide excellent care for your pets. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, murder mystery shows, hiking, and family Movie Night.
Reiko lives in Apponaug with her husband Chris, their two sons Zac and Wyatt, and their goofy Golden, Finn. She hopes to channel her love of animals by learning from her experienced colleagues and continuing her education here at Hill and Harbour Veterinary Center, pursuing all learning opportunities in compassionate pet care.
Heather
Veterinary Technician, “Cat Advocate”
She has been caring for people’s most prized companions for the past fifteen years! While the majority of this time has been focused on preventative care in the general practice setting, she is extremely well versed in emergency and intensive care having worked for the past ten years at an emergency and referral practice.
Heather’s motivation to constantly learn and enhance her knowledge exemplifies our core value of Education. She is currently studying for her certification examination in veterinary technology. Heather has a firm understanding that a pet is an integral part of one’s family, and her goal is to provide health and happiness to her patients while creating a wonderfully positive veterinary experience for their owners.
Heather’s family is jam-packed with her husband, Jim, daughter, Aria, and her cats: Coco, Snaggle Tooth, Mr. Fuzz, Road Kill, and Campbell as well as her pups: Bruin, Phoenix, and Sookie.
Jenna
Office Manager/ Lead Veterinary Technician
Jenna is a veterinary technician who grew up in Warwick. She earned a degree in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island but spent her final semester abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia where she lived for almost a decade.
Jenna is a dedicated learner and loves to teach herself new things. After graduating, she spent three years at a veterinary hospital in northern Sydney, where she became the head technician and developed a passion for surgery. She went on to become the surgical tech for a mobile orthopaedic specialist surgeon, performing surgeries all over the city, sometimes even on native Australian wildlife! A lot of this time was spent working closely with an emergency hospital where she also picked up intensive care skills and developed lasting relationships with the emergency team.
Jenna has left the city life and relocated back to Rhode Island with her husband Matt and their cat Atlas.
Tara
Lead Veterinary Technician & Inventory Manager, “Cat Advocate”
Tara joined Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center in 2017. She has been working in veterinary and client care for the past 7 years. Prior to that, she was involved in a variety of animal care settings which included caring for marine mammals, reptiles, parrots, and penguins. She believes pets are family, and customer care is of the utmost importance. She enjoys building lasting relationships with our patients and their human companions.
Tara is one of Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center’s “Cat Advocates” as she has undergone extensive training working with feline patients to ensure their comfort levels remain high during their visits to the veterinarian.
Tara lives in Charlestown with her husband, son, and two beautiful kitties Denali and Ridge.
Kerri
Veterinary Technician
Kerri is a Veterinary Technician who grew up in Warwick, RI. She always had a passion for animals and knew that her life path would lead to helping pets. She studied at Animal Behavior College in the Veterinary Assistant program and graduated in 2016. From there, she began her veterinary career at an emergency hospital, where she stayed for several years. She joined the Hill & Harbour family in December 2020, when she decided that she would like to focus on preventative medicine.
Kerri is always striving to learn new things and loves to fine-tune her existing skills. She enjoys educating clients and team members and bonding with her patients. When not at work, she loves to read, write, and spend time with friends and family, which include her two dogs Buddy and Sophie-Girl.
